Black, Indigenous people overrepresented in fatal police encounters in Canada

There is no government database listing deaths at the hands of the police available to the public in Canada, so CBC News created its own. It found that Black and Indigenous people died at a disproportionate rate. Pam Palmater, chair in Indigenous governance at Ryerson University, said the result wasn’t surprising but that the increase since 2000 was.
