We extend our best wishes to all Indigenous communities and people across Canada in celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day. BluEarth has great respect for the traditions and knowledge of Indigenous Peoples, as well as the value their involvement adds to projects.

We are proud to be partnered with Indigenous communities on eight of our renewable energy facilities in Canada, including a 50:50 partnership with Batchewana First Nation on the Bow Lake Wind Facility and a 50:50 partnership with Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte on the Loyalist Solar Facility, both in Ontario. In addition, we have partnerships with the shíshálh Nation on the Narrows Inlet Hydro Facility and the Squamish Nation on the Furry Creek Hydro Facility, both in British Columbia.

We believe that trust is the foundation for long-term successful partnerships and we know that trust is only developed over time, by working together with honest and transparent communications.

As part of our community investment program, we are also excited to announce the official launch of our Aboriginal Clean Energy Scholarship (ACES) for the fifth year in a row. This scholarship program is intended to help Indigenous students develop their skills and knowledge in the renewable energy sector.

ACES recipients are awarded up to $3,000 for the academic year, as well as the opportunity to be matched with a BluEarth mentor and learning partner for two-way communication to inspire, challenge and motivate. This scholarship is available to Canadian Indigenous students pursuing trades certification, diploma, degree and other programs from accredited post-secondary institutions. Applicants will be evaluated based on academic merit and community involvement, and those pursuing studies transferable to the clean energy sector are strongly encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply is September 15, 2018.
