BOYD’S COVE, NL – The Beothuk Interpretation Centre in Boyd’s Cove will open its doors to the public with a free event this Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.

The event has no formal agenda, but offers participants a chance to sample Native foods like Indian Brewis, moose soup, bannock and smelt, described as a staple food for the Beothuk of Boyd’s Cove by site supervisor Karen LeDrew-Day.

Chief Mi’sel Joe is expected at the event as well, and will perform smudging ceremonies at the site’s Spirit Garden. LeDrew-Day added attendees could bring, or make, tokens at the centre for use in the Spirit Garden.
