WINNIPEG – The parents of a northern Manitoba man missing since mid-June are asking anyone who may have information about him to please come forward.

Twenty-six-year-old Russell Adrian Hyslop is from the Indigenous community of Lac Brochet (broh-SHAY’) and was last seen on June 19 near the train station in Thompson.

His parents say he had flown in for a medical appointment and was seeking addictions treatment for drug use.

Jeanette and Tom Shaoullie travelled more than 1,000 kilometres to Winnipeg to make a province-wide appeal yesterday.

They said their son has three children, two brothers and two sisters and everyone wants him back.

His mother, struggling to compose herself, said the family is exhausted and running out of ideas on where to search for Hyslop in Thompson.

At first they thought he’d gone hiking and reported him missing the day after he was last seen.

Since then, searchers have combed Thompson and R-C-M-P are investigating it as a missing persons case.

Hyslop’s parents said it doesn’t make sense that he would book himself into drug rehab and then disappear on his own.

Their last contact with him was on Facebook the day before he vanished.
