Busy Weekend For MNR Fire Crews – 89.5 The Lake FM

The Ministry of Natural Resources confirms one building was destroyed in a wild fire near the Washagamis Bay First Nation over the weekend.

The blaze broke out Saturday afternoon and was quickly knocked down by MNR water bombers.

The fire grew to almost 10 hectares in size, and is about half that size today.

The fire is still listed as active, but it is now under control with ground crews taking action on it.

Overall there were 19 new forest fires reported in the region over the weekend.
