The Opening Ceremony kicking off the 2019 National Conference on Ending Homelessness in Edmonton begins with a Grand Entry, organized by the Edmonton Host Committee. CAEH19 took place on Treaty 6 Territory, a traditional gathering place for Indigenous peoples including the Cree, Blackfoot, Metis, Nakota Sioux, Dene and Inuit.
The opening ceremony included Howard Mustus Sr., Tim Richter, Alberta Minister Rajan Sawhney, Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson, and MP Adam Vaughan.
We were honoured to hear from our opening keynote speaker Dr. Wilton Littlechild, Grand Chief of the Confederacy of Treaty 6 First Nations, Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
