“Apprenticeship – The Framework for Canada’s Renewable Resource”
The essence of the chosen Theme is to highlight that apprenticeship training provides for a sustainable training strategy so that Canada remains competitive and prosperous. Apprenticeship training ensures that Canada’s resource of people, continue to be viewed as one of its most valuable renewable resources as long as there is a sustainable training strategy in place – apprenticeship training.Please click here to access the online submissions form.
When and Where:
The Delta Hotel and the St. John’s Convention Centre is the place to be from June 6 – 8, 2010. During these 2 ½ days, your organization will have the opportunity to influence key decisionmakers of the Canadian apprenticeship community as well as to connect with apprenticeship colleagues from across the country.
It is expected that more than 450 delegates will attend this highly popular, traditionally sold-out event. Individuals or organizations with an interest in presenting are invited to submit a brief abstract for consideration.
Conference Objectives:
o We want to ensure conference delegates leave the conference with a snapshot of what is happening in apprenticeship from the perspective of specific sectors especially in light of the current economic climate.
o The goal of the conference is to provide the apprenticeship community with the opportunity to share strategic directions, to increase the understanding and knowledge regarding the importance of apprenticeship training in Canada, to increase participation in apprenticeship and influence decision makers.
Share Your Perspectives on Apprenticeship
o The Committee may favour presentations that demonstrate the following elements:
o Are related to the theme: “Apprenticeship – The Framework for Canada’s Renewable Resource.
o Focus on apprenticeship and trades training.
o Stress the importance of certification and accreditation.
o Link apprenticeship and trades training to key human resource strategies.
o Are positioned to provide a sector specific viewpoint. For example, presenters may wish to focus on a manufacturing, forestry, construction, energy, automotive sectors or they may wish to highlight a new and emerging sector in which apprenticeship can play a role.
o Demonstrate trends and innovations

The Canadian Apprenticeship Forum – Forum canadien sur l’apprentissage (CAF-FCA) is the only not-for-profit, multi-partite organization that brings together the key constituents within the apprenticeship community. CAF-FCA is a unique partnership of representatives from business, labour, the Interprovincial Alliance of Apprenticeship Board Chairs (IPA), educators, persons with disabilities, women, members of visible minorities, Aboriginal persons, the Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA) and Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC).
