Canada Day Events start June 30 at Kinsmen Park – City of Prince Albert

Prince Albert, Sk. – The Prince Albert Multicultural Council, in conjunction with the City of Prince Albert and Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2 is pleased to announce that Canada’s 150th birthday will be highlighted by events over two days, June 30th and July 1st in Kinsmen Park. There will be entertainment starting on Friday, June 30th at 5:00pm at the Kinette Amphitheatre concluding with fireworks at dusk. Canada Day events on Saturday, July 1st begin at noon with Opening Ceremonies including a colour party, followed by all-day entertainment and more fireworks at dusk. The event is open to all; fireworks and all on-stage entertainment is free.

The 2-day event will include a celebration of the renovations completed at Kinsmen Park, a Reconciliation Ceremony facilitated by the Prince Albert Grand Council, as well as an expanded Kids area on Canada Day. Food vendors will be set up throughout Kinsmen Park over the two days.

“This will be the biggest Canada Day event in decades”, said Shayne Lazarowich, Executive Director of the Prince Albert Multicultural Council. “To celebrate the many upgrades at Kinsmen Park and mark Canada’s sesquicentennial we are excited to host some very meaningful ceremonies as well as present 11 local or regional bands, 2 sets of fireworks, the Shaw Kids Stage and make the 2 days something that all residents of Prince Albert and area will remember for years to come.”

The expanded Canada 150 celebrations are made possible by the support of Canadian Heritage, Northern Lights Community Development Corporation, SHAW, Northern Lights Casino, Prince Albert Multicultural Council, City of Prince Albert, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2, Community Foundations of Canada, Prince Albert Municipal Cultural Action Plan, Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan, Institute for Canadian Citzenship, SaskTel and SaskEnergy.
