(Saskatoon, SK)The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nation`s Credentials Committee is pleased to announce the names of the candidates running for the Office of the Chief and the Office of the First Vice Chief. The FSIN Credentials Committee received only one declaration for the Office of the Third Vice Chief. FSIN Second Vice Chief Bobby Cameron will assume the duties of Acting Chief during the campaign period.
The Candidates, in alphabetical order, for the Office of Chief are:
BELLEGARDE, Perry Little Black Bear First Nation
WAPASS, Delbert Thunderchild First Nation
WATSON, Morley Ochapowace First Nation
The Candidates, in alphabetical order, for the Office of First Vice-Chief are:
JONATHAN, Kimberly Wahpeton First Nation
WUTTUNEE, Sheldon M. Red Pheasant First Nation
The Candidates, in alphabetical order, for the Office of Third Vice-Chief are:
LERAT, Edward (Dutch) Cowessess First Nation
Edward (Dutch) Lerat will be formally acclaimed during the fall Legislative Assembly in Saskatoon, October 24 and 25. 2012. Vice Chief Lerat will continue his duties.
The FSIN represents 74 First Nations in Saskatchewan. The Federation is committed to honouring the spirit and intent of Treaty, as well as the promotion, protection and implementation of the Treaty promises that were made more than a century ago.
