Cape Breton University to host Indigenous education summit Thursday – Cape Breton Post

SYDNEY, N.S. — Cape Breton University is playing host to a former National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations.

Ovide Mercredi, who was the national voice of Canada’s Aboriginal population from 1991 to 1997, will speak at the Indigenous Education in Canada summit that is hosted by the university.

Mercredi is expected to deliver a message of optimism when takes to the podium at CBU’s Boardmore Theatre on Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon.

“Not only will we benefit, but Canada as a whole will benefit,” stated Mercredi, in a university press release.
