Staff & patron raise $12,000 to support “Heart Month” locally

Rama, ON (Thursday, March 8th, 2012) –During the month of February Casino Rama asked staff & patrons to help “Give Canadians More Time” in support of the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s “Heart Month”. And boy did the Casino prove it has heart, A LOT of heart! The Casino is thrilled to announce that through the generous participation of our patrons, staff and the Casino’s Community Wellness Program we were able to raise $12,000 this year for the Country of Simcoe & District of Muskoka organization.

“On behalf of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, I would like to thank Casino Rama for their generous contribution. Heart disease and stroke take 1 in 3 Canadians before their time, and is the #1 killer of women. Your financial contribution is crucial to our success. With your continued support to the Foundation, we will be able to change the devastating statistics we face” said Valerie Holland local Area Manager, The Heart & Stroke Foundation.Funds were raised during the entire month of February in a variety of ways: patrons who purchased specially themed food & drink items, spa services and Heart Suites saw a percentage of the proceeds donated, and staff held a one-day, 12-hour bike-a-thon that involved 8 stationary bikes and more than 200 CREW from all departments across the Casino. In addition a number of the Casino’s monthly marketing player’s club programs aimed to raise awareness and funds from members.

“This property wide effort marks the second time our Casino family has come together to support Heart Month locally,” said Harry Oshanski, President & CEO. “We were able to raise awareness about this serious health issue amongst our staff & patrons, at the same time we raised funds to support those in our community who are in need, making it was a winning combination”.
