City Council tours water treatment facilities and water pipelines one month after the oil spill
August 24, 2016
Prince Albert SK – Members of City Council toured the City of Prince Albert Water Treatment Plant facilities and the two temporary water pipelines approximately one month after the Husky Energy oil spill. “We were very respectful of allowing City administration to do their jobs during the water emergency and not interfering with the process,” said City of Prince Albert Mayor Greg Dionne. “Now that the initial emergency has past City Council is working with City administration to come up with viable, long-term solutions.”
Mayor Dionne said he was impressed with what he saw first-hand during the guided bus tour by administration of everything that had been accomplished over the last month. “To build two temporary water pipelines in such a short time span and the efforts by City staff and contractors in maintaining these pipelines – from running security to ensuring that all the pumps running along the entire length of the two pipelines are fully operational – is no small feat,” said Dionne. “I am proud to have such dedicated staff at the City of Prince Albert that has put in a lot of long hours this past month to make everything happen.”
A staff appreciation lunch was also held on Tuesday this week to recognize all City of Prince Albert staff for their extra efforts throughout the water crisis, added Dionne.
