North Bay Mayor Al McDonald will lobby the province next week for greater support for employment training for abused and at-risk women.
McDonald says he is slated to discuss the need for stable core funding for True Self-Debwewendizwin Employment and Training with Indira Naidoo-Harris, the minister of the Status of Women, during the Association of Municipalities conference in Ottawa.
The mayor says future provincial funding is up in the air for employment training programs for abused and at-risk women.
True Self, now 10 years old, is sponsored by Nipissing First Nation, but “the doors are open to anyone,” program manager Donna Forget has stated previously.
