City to raise Algonquin Anishinabe flags permanently on National Indigenous Peoples Day

On National Indigenous Peoples Day, join Mayor Jim Watson, Grand Chief Verna Polson and Chief Kirby Whiteduck at a flag raising ceremony to honour the permanent presence of the flags of the Algonquin Anishinabeg Nation Tribal Council and the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation at Ottawa City Hall.
The flags will now fly in perpetuity at Marion Dewar Plaza and will be permanently displayed at Andrew S. Haydon Hall (Council chambers) and in the Mayor’s Boardroom at City Hall.

Location: Marion Dewar Plaza, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West
Please note, no photos or videos of the smudging ceremony are permitted. Media is encouraged to stay for the whole ceremony.
