By unanimous decision, council deferred proposed amendments to the bylaw covering fees and rates back to administration so they can consider concerns raised to council during their Tuesday evening general meeting.
The proposed changes will impact transit fees, which will go up by 20 per cent; field rentals, which will see a 14 to 19 per cent increase; and planning and development permits, which will go up by 20 to 33 per cent.
On average, the municipality’s user fees are 25 per cent lower than other areas in province.
The bylaw changes also cover oilsands work camps, proposing a $1.25 license per camp bed and days they are occupied. It also proposes development permit application fee of $1,000 and $100 per bed for accommodations.
