Dehcho Leaders Select Interim Grand Chief

Fort Simpson, NT – Feb. 8 – Dehcho broadcaster and former Grand Chief Gerry Antoine has been selected as the interim Grand Chief of the Dehcho First Nations.
He was chosen from among four candidates today during a leadership teleconference call.
Antoine replaces Herb Norwegian who was removed from office by a special DFN Assembly in Fort Simpson last week and will head the DFN until a General Assembly is held in June 2008. Norwegian had been convicted of assault late last year.
Antoine is a broadcaster and announcer at an Aboriginal radio station, CKLB in Yellowknife.
Gerry was grand chief of DFN in the 1990s.
