Eeyou Istchee Tourism and Tourisme Baie-James awarded the Prix excellence Tourisme, initiative de marketing numérique (digital marketing initiative)
Chibougamau – Eeyou Istchee Tourism and Tourisme Baie-James were proud to receive the Prix excellence tourisme, initiative de marketing numérique (digital marketing initiative) for its Into the North project.
This prize was presented to the Regional Tourism Associations (RTA) at the 2nd edition of the Prix excellence tourisme, on November 6th in Quebec City. Thanks to the Into the North project, the Eeyou Istchee Baie-James region was among the 3 finalists in the digital marketing initiative category; a first for the two RTAs as well as for the region.
This web contest invited people from all over the world to submit their application to win the prize that would have them discover Eeyou Istchee Baie-James’ most beautiful attractions. Following a vote, 6 winners were welcomed in Eeyou Istchee Baie-James to take part in a unique two-week adventure: a 5,000 km road trip in the region! This unique, fully filmed experience was used to create the web series now available at www.intothenorth.ca.
The president of Eeyou Istchee Tourism, Mr. Titus Shecapio, and the president of Tourisme Baie-James, Mr. Alexandre Maxim Jacob, mentioned that this international marketing project, result of the collaboration between Crees and Jamesians, is by far the most ambitious project undertaken by the two RTAs. “We knew from the start that this project would position the region throughout Quebec and abroad as a world-class tourism destination. The award we received confirms it and increases the reach of this project. We also want to highlight the work of our teams, especially Ms. Camille Castonguay’s who has led the project with rigour and determination.”

The 2nd edition of the Prix excellence tourisme brought together over 425 people at the Québec City Convention Center on Tuesday, November 6th, to highlight the expertise the and creativity of the provincial tourism industry. This gala, which followed the Sommet Excellence Tourisme, a day of workshops and conferences is the initiative of the ministère du Tourisme, which mandates the Alliance de l’industrie touristique for its realization. In all 10 tourism organizations were rewarded.
