Engineering Growth in Minority and Aboriginal-owned Businesses
15th CAMSC Diversity Procurement Fair Makes Business Matches in the Automotive, Financial Services, Food and Beverage, Pharmaceutical and Construction Industries
(Toronto, April 11, 2019) – Approximately 400 attendees will be attending the annual event that facilitates business relationships with diverse suppliers and leading North American corporations with supplier diversity procurement mandates. With the theme of “Engineering Growth,” supplier diversity leaders, representing corporations in a wide-range of industries, will inspire and inform minority and Aboriginal-owned suppliers on the essentials to grow their own businesses. Since 2004, CAMSC corporate members have spent $4 billion with minority and Aboriginal-owned certified suppliers.
With a focus this year on the automotive industry, a popular workshop was a look at how it will restructure itself and the implications to manufacturers, suppliers and service providers. Additional workshops included Millennial Entrepreneurs, Future of Procurement, Design Thinking, AI/Big Data, Diversity and the Future of Smart Buildings. CAMSC certified suppliers shared their SD success stories in a morning panel discussion and a luncheon keynote was delivered by Isaac Olowolafe Jr., entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder of Dream Maker Inc. He discussed the barriers diverse communities face in accessing entrepreneurship opportunities in Canada.
