Alaska Highway travel advisory in effect as Beatton Airport Road wildfire widens
The evacuation order for the Beatton Airport Road wildfire near Fort St. John in northeastern B.C. has been expanded.
The fire is currently the largest in the province. The evacuation area now stretches from Red Creek Road in the south to the Blueberry River First Nation in the north and from the Alaska Highway in the west to Prespatou Road to the east.
People are being told to leave immediately. The fire has grown to cover 10,000 hectares.
