Express Scripts Canada partners with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund

Mississauga, January 24, 2019 – Express Scripts Canada (ESC) today announced a five-year agreement with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF), to provide a Legacy Space for the advancement of education regarding Indigenous history and the journey toward reconciliation.

“We are very proud to partner with the Downie Wenjack Fund to help advance education and appreciation of Canada’s Indigenous communities,” said Michael Biskey, President of ESC. “This is part of our broader commitment to Indigenous Canadians, and makes us better as an organization.”

In addition to financial support for the Fund, ESC will donate a space in its head office and rename it the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund Legacy Space, dedicated to educating ESC staff and the public about Indigenous issues.

“DWF is excited to be launching the first Legacy Space in Mississauga at Express Scripts Canada. The Legacy Space program is an opportunity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians to connect, learn and grow together on our path towards reconciliation. We are so grateful to ESC for joining the Legacy Space movement and for continuing their strong commitment to “Do Something”!” to support this important cause,” Sarah Midanik, President and CEO

ESC recently undertook to seek certification under the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) program, and continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering positive relationships with Indigenous peoples in a number of ways, including recruitment and training initiatives for Indigenous staff and outreach to Indigenous vendors.
