More than a year after the State Government shut down an Aboriginal community in the far north, millions of dollars worth of infrastructure remains sitting there, unused.

The last remaining residents of Oombulgurri were flown out after it was decided the community was too small and dysfunctional to continue.

Since then, some dongas have been shipped out but dozens of homes and a medical clinic remain there abandoned.

Debate continues over what should be done with the ghost town.

The Government has confirmed a feasibility study is under way into turning Oombulgurri into a tourism operation.
