Fatal Stabbing Investigation -Update

Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service continues to investigate the fatal stabbing of a 26 year old resident of Poplar Hill First Nation.

Police have arrested the common law spouse of the victim in relation to this investigation. Kimberly KING, 20 years old of Poplar Hill First Nation has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder. She has been held in custody with a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, September 2, 2009, in Kenora, Ontario.Officers from the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service North West Region Crime Unit with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigation Branch under the direction of Detective Andy Karski are continuing the investigation.

Police are asking any persons with information related to this occurrence to contact the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service at 1-888-396-6277 Ext. 236.

Poplar Hill First Nation is located approximately 670 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
