In a news conference on Parliament Hill, Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller provides an update on the federal government’s response to COVID-19 (coronavirus disease), focusing on the pandemic’s impact on Indigenous communities in Canada. He is joined by Valerie Gideon (the senior assistant deputy minister for the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch of Indigenous Services Canada) and Dr. Tom Wong (the chief medical officer of public health for Indigenous Services Canada). Responding to questions from reporters, the minister also comments on a number of recent incidents in which Indigenous Canadians were injured or killed in encounters with police.
