BUCKHORN – If you want one more boost to your Canadian pride go to the Gallery on the Lake, 65 Gallery on the Lake Rd. in Buckhorn, and visit the exhibit celebrating Canadian artists. It is an outstanding display of talent from area artists.
Andrew Neil Olscher is one of those artists whose art is being exhibited. He brands himself as an eco expressionist. An artist with a strong music connection he thinks of conter point in which voices are harmonically interdependent yet independent in rhythm and contour to describe his use of colour. Iridescent paint mixed with various colours provides different reflections. In his strokes he hears the voices of different instruments. He may lay on thick strokes of acrylic like butter and then use that acrylic like a stain. With the right palette he finds the right colour.
Jo Mann is another exhibiting artist. Jo’s creative flow eked out at the age of thirteen. She paints on paddles when in Canada and does landscapes in Mexico in the winter. For thirty-three years a paddlemaker has made beautiful paddles for her out of black cherry. Her paddle designs reflect her experience of living amongst indigenous people.
