With the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s summary of its report into residential schools being released this week, the Canadian Children’s Book Centre would like to highlight some of our free resources for teachers, librarians and parents who would like to share First Nations, Métis and Inuit voices, culture and history with children.

In conjunction with the TD Canadian Children’s Book Week theme, “Hear Our Stories: Celebrating First Nations, Métis and Inuit Literature,” we published a theme guide which celebrates the vibrant, authentic and powerful books that provide readers with the opportunity to engage with the culture and language of Canada’s Indigenous peoples. Our Teachers’ Book Bank, which is a database of Canadian historical fiction and non-fiction books, also includes a long list of books about Aboriginal history for teachers. Click here to access our Teachers’ Book Bank.
