“On behalf of the Board of Directors and Members, we welcome BMO Bank of Montreal as the first Founding Corporate Patron of the First Nations National Housing Managers Association. As the FNNHMA is a new association, the support of our corporate members is needed to build a strong foundation to develop new members, products and services” explained Michael King – Co-Chair Eastern Canada – FNNHMA Board of Directors. “Thank you to BMO Bank of Montreal for taking the initiative to become the first founding corporate patron and supporting the FNNHMA.” “BMO Bank of Montreal is excited about its corporate partnership with the FNNHMA,” said Clint Davis, National Director – Aboriginal Banking. “The work of the FNNHMA will be very valuable for its membership and for us in Aboriginal Banking as we continue our efforts to meet the housing needs of First Nations by offering unique products and exceptional service.”

BMO Bank of Montreal works with First Nations and their members to create on-reserve housing loan programs without federal government guarantees. The BMO Bank of Montreal On-Reserve Housing Loan Program is an innovative financing alternative for First Nations to help provide affordable housing for their members. Each program is designed to reflect the specific needs of a First Nation and provides qualified members with the opportunity to own their homes through access to housing loans for the construction, or purchase of owner-occupies, single family dwellings or to finance major renovations to existing homes. To date, 33 First Nations have implemented an on-reserve housing loan program with BMO with authorized borrowings of over $70 million. BMO Bank of Montreal has also introduced a financing option for First Nations to help their members upgrade existing single family, owner-occupied homes located on First Nation territory. Through access to personal loans from $5,000 to $25,000, the BMO On-Reserve Home Renovation Loan Program provides eligible borrowers the opportunity to renovate homes to increase energy efficiency and to create a healthier environment.

BMO Bank of Montreal provides fully integrated personal and business banking solutions to Aboriginal people. Over the past 14 years, BMO has opened 14 full service branches and 3 community banking outlets serving Aboriginal communities across Canada. www.bmo.com/aboriginalbanking
