Gary Farmer and the Troublemakers Releases New Album Under the Water Tower
CD Release Party kicks off 2012 Rezified Spring Tour

Gary Farmer and the Troublemakers transform their life experiences into their own version of the blues and rock & roll in their latest compilation Under the Water Tower. Singles like “Mister Coyote” and “Foster Child” feature a distinctive Native American flavor in its messaging and soulful delivery. The band’s strongest album to date touches on themes of pain and redemption, and past and present social issues in an unique blend that has the power to strike a chord with all folks, both young and old.FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SANTA FE, NM, March 4, 2011. Gary Farmer and the Troublemakers will be back on scene with their fourth blues-inspired album, titled Under the Water Tower, in a cross-continental tour throughout Indian country starting March 6 through April 21. A CD release party in Santa Fe, New Mexico that will officially kick off the 2012 Rezified Spring Tour showcases 11 original songs. The two-month tour includes stops at towns, Indian-owned casinos, schools and reservations throughout the US and Canada.

In the tour, Gary Farmer (vocals and harmonica) will be accompanied by his touring band, including Brock Stonefish (guitar and vocals), Lonnie Arellano (guitar and vocals), John Ringo (bass) and Bruce Fraser (drums).

The music is a collaboration with friends, musicians and artists, including Joy Harjo (Red Dreams, A Trail Beyond Tears) on saxophone, who joined the studio band on “Mister Coyote” and “Locket of Love,” and Hook Herrera (No Matter What I Do) who played the harmonica for three tracks: “Call Me,” “Make a Change,” and “What You Gonna Do?” Other contributors include: Clyde Roulette on guitar, Aaron Whitby on electric piano, Jaimie Bird Yellowhorse on guitar and Toby Williams, Logan Nix, Shakti Hayes on bass, Terri Lynn on vocals and Jen Rund on bass.

As a proud member of the Cayuga Nation and Wolf Clan of the Haudenosaunee/Iroquois Confederacy, Gary Farmer says the tour is also an opportunity for him and his band mates to connect with and contribute to the native community throughout North America.

“It’s definitely a highlight for me to work with our native youth while performing for the community,” says Farmer, who has also scheduled in theatre and guitar-building workshops, and guest lectures during the two-month tour. “I believe it’s important that we reach out to audiences that are hardly served — many of our native communities are still living below the poverty line and among many things, they’re also getting by with little entertainment.”

Tracks on Under the Water Tower include: “Troublemaker,” “Lovesick Blues,” “Built for Comfort,” “This is Hip,” “Make a Change,” “Walking Away,” “Go Go Go,” “What You Gonna Do?,” “Mister Coyote,” “Foster Child” and “Hey Baby.”

The tour will be officially launched at the CD release party of Under the Water Tower taking place at the Press Room, located at 2509 San Mateo Blvd NE, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes a copy of the CD. The show is open to the public.
