Our exhibition features more than 50 paintings, drawings and prints by 14 artists from Turtle Island, writes Ewa Chwojko-Srawley

According to Indigenous oral history, Sky Woman fell down to the earth when it was covered with water. She landed on the back of a big turtle, but she needed land to survive. Several animals tried to swim to the bottom of the ocean and bring back dirt to create land. Muskrat succeeded in gathering dirt, which was placed on the back of the turtle, and the dirt grew into the land known today as North America.

Our exhibition features more than 50 paintings, drawings and prints by 14 artists from Turtle Island — the United States and Canada. They have been lent to the gallery through the generosity of art collector Dr. Paul Morgan, friend of many artists.
