Giller prize winner Joseph Boyden at Georgian’s Barrie Campus Sept. 30
Barrie North Collegiate and Georgian’s University Partnership Centre (UPC) will welcome 2008 Scotiabank Giller Prize winner Joseph Boyden (inset) to the Barrie Campus Sept. 30.Boyden will read from his works, as will critically acclaimed Canadian novelists Stephen Finucan and Damian Tarnopolsky. A discussion will follow the readings.
The event is being held in support of the L3: Writers’ Conference, a project of Grade 12 Barrie North Collegiate Writers’ Craft students and their teacher Brian Adduono. Among the sponsors is the UPC.
The annual event consists of day workshops for selected high school students from Simcoe County and evening reading sessions featuring some of Canada’s best-known novelists, poets, publishers and journalists.
The Sept. 30 readings get underway in Alumni Hall at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door. General admission: $20. Students: $10.
