The Government of Canada is committed to a renewed relationship with Indigenous peoples and supporting the economic prosperity of Indigenous communities.

Today, the Honourable Scott Brison, President of the Treasury Board and Member of Parliament for Kings-Hants, on behalf of the Honourable Jane Philpott, Minister of Indigenous Services, joined Glooscap First Nation leadership and community members to celebrate the grand opening of the Glooscap Landing retail and business centre.

Glooscap Landing is owned by the Glooscap First Nation to create more employment, resources, and general economic prosperity for the First Nation and the surrounding communities.

Located at the gateway to Nova Scotia’s wine and culinary region, Glooscap Landing will promote new economic development in the community and position the Glooscap First Nation to be better prepared to take advantage of current and future business opportunities.

Since 2015, Indigenous Services Canada has provided funding for this project of more than $3.86 million through the Community Opportunities Readiness Program.

“Congratulations to Glooscap First Nation on the grand opening of Glooscap Landing. This retail and business centre will create jobs and support the overall economic prosperity of Glooscap First Nation and surrounding communities.”
