Healing blankets comfort patients – The Community Press

TYENDINAGA MOHAWK TERRITORY – A group of women whose lives have been touched by cancer are creating comfort for those going through similar battles.

A women’s cancer support group on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory recently created three healing blankets that will provide comfort to Indigenous cancer patients in the Kingston region.

Dionne Nolan is the Aboriginal patient navigator for the South East Regional Cancer Program at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre. She co-ordinates the talking circle on Tyendinaga.

“It’s a group of mostly women that have had cancer, who are going through cancer, or who are supporting someone or have supported someone who has gone through cancer,” Nolan said.

Nolan suggested the healing blanket idea to the women.
