Artistic director Justin Many Fingers calls Making Treaty 7’s first year at the GRAND a season of beginnings and renewals.

“Making Treaty 7’s 2019/2020 season marks so many beginnings. We are only the second Indigenous theatre company in Canada to have a residency at a local theatre and it being at a historical space like the GRAND makes it even more special.

“When I moved to Calgary, there were no resources for Native actors but we’re going to change that with our residency here at the GRAND. It is not just a new beginning for the company, but for Indigenous artists as well,” says Many Fingers.

All of the shows to be presented are inspired by stories, legends and history, which is the renewal part of the company’s mandate.
