ABOUT MIDNIGHT SHINE:

Midnight Shine is a one-of-a-kind band, with a one-of-a-kind story. They are a very important band, too, with respect to Canada’s social climate. On top of that, their career is currently on a very good trajectory, so things are shining all around…

Not many bands play their very first show opening for legendary Canadian rockers like Trooper. Then again, not many bands are quite like Midnight Shine. The Northern Ontario foursome is turning heads with a sound that seamlessly mixes roots, classic and modern rock. Anchored by the melodic vocals and eloquent lyrics of singer/songwriter Adrian Sutherland from Attawapiskat, their music is not only radio-friendly, but also explores Cree culture, tradition and life in the North with depth and meaning. They’re a MUST-SEE band you’ll take a real shine to. “One foot in the past, one in the here and now…”

SHOW REVIEWS FROM CMW:

DISARM Magazine – The Hideout (Friday April 21)

http://disarmmagazine.com/canadian-music-week-round-up/

“There is heart and fire in this band, and terrific vocal performance which at times conjures Neil Young. All who’ve picked up a guitar have given a shot at a bit of Uncle Neil, but singer Adrian Sutherland comes organically closer to the heart of what makes early Young so haunting than anyone else we’ve seen in years. It’s also a lot of fun. A band to watch…” –Jacqueline Howell, DISARM Magazine

“When the guys got on stage and started playing, it was very different, and it was perfect…. still rock but with a lighter approach… the four-piece from James Bay were engaging and Zach Tomatuk shredded on his gorgeous Ibanez JEM guitar… Adrian Sutherland on lead vocals is a warm and charming presence on stage and along with George Gillies on drums and Stan Louttit on bass, they come together as one. Their voices blend together beautifully and the lyrics take us to open fields and northern Ontario…” –Trish Cassling, thereviewsarein.com

SISTER LOVE:

Sister Love the brand new single by Midnight Shine (released March 2017) is an upbeat ballad that’s sure to touch your soul. It holds special meaning for Midnight Shine’s frontman Adrian Sutherland:

“It’s about trying to free yourself from the burdens and struggles we sometimes have to carry. Some of us get stuck in a hard place, and when we do, it would be nice to go back to those days when life was more simple. In our thoughts we can go there, and be in that good place again, even just for a brief moment. That’s what the song means to me.”

Also special to Adrian is the fact he co-wrote Sister Love with his own sister Iris: “The idea was inspired by a poem my sister wrote. We made some changes to the lyrics to make it fit into a song structure, I came up with the melody, and we put it all together. That’s how Sister Love came to be.”

Sister Love is starting to make inroads on rock and community radio across Canada. Listen to Sister Love here: https://midnightshine.bandcamp.com/track/sister-love
