Inuit Youth Sexual Health Conference
Are you an Inuk youth between the ages of 16 and 29? Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada is holding a youth sexual health conference in Kuujjuaq, Nunavik, from February 23 – 26, 2009. We are inviting youth to come and share and gain knowledge about sexual health, including HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis-C, HPV and other sexually transmitted and blood borne infections (STBBI).We’re looking for your success stories, or events that may have impacted you and/or your community in positive ways. We will be using a holistic approach during our conference which means that we will talk about the mental, spiritual, physical and emotional aspects of how sexual health affects our lives.
We have limited funding for Inuit youth from all Arctic regions to join us in Kuujjuaq.
How can you attend? You must:
• Complete an application form (www.pauktuutit.ca);
• Attach a two (2) page personal essay about your success stories or knowledge about HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis-C or other STBBIs;
• Be willing to share your knowledge and experience with other youth; and
• Find ways to share what you did at the conference in your home community.
If you are interested, please submit your completed applications to Mary Kelly, Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada, at mkelly@pauktuutit.ca or by fax to 613-238-1787.
