IRC: Call for Language and Cultural Revitalization Proposals

Inuvialuit Cultural Centre is looking for language revitalization and cultural program proposals.

Siglitun, Uummarmiutun, and Inuinnaqtun will be the main means of communication that connects us with our past, strengthens our social, emotional, and spiritual well-being, and reinforces the importance of our traditions, culture and modern way of life.

Learning Siglitun, Uummarmiutun, and/or Inuinnaqtun must be a main part of any program that is offered and ICRC can provide booklets to support introductory language classes.

Some examples of programs that can be held include:

  • Language classes
  • Traditional tool making
  • Storytelling classes
  • Traditional cooking
  • Sewing
  • Preparation of traditional furs
  • Drum dance workshops
  • … And other ideas

Proposal application forms are available at Community Corporations or can be received through email by contacting Inuvialuit Cultural Centre.

The deadline to submit applications is:

April 30, 2019 at 5:00pm.

Proposals should be submitted to ICC by your Community Corporation, with support from the Community Corporation, and managed by the Community Corporation.
