“If an employer loses their place of business and therefore their employees are out of work, how long before the economy can function? Essentially, does inaction when it comes to commercial real estate pose a threat to the economy for the foreseeable future?”
Most will agree the Canada-wide response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been commendable from an individual’s standpoint.
From a business standpoint – especially small businesses – the early report card on the relief is a little blurrier. Making sure people can pay their rent and have food in their fridges is today’s concern. Additionally, the idea that jobs are protected so they have something to go back to is also a priority for government.
However, questions remain about how employers can stay afloat in uncertain times when they are facing struggles of their own.
