Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami and the University of Ottawa are pleased to invite Inuit graduate students to participate in the Inuit Graduate Student Winter Institute: Ensuring Inuit participation and success in research. This 2-day national gathering of Inuit students and graduates at uOttawa on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th February 2019 is hosted by Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) in partnership with uOttawa and funded through a SSHRC Indigenous Research Capacity and Reconciliation—Connection’s Grant.

The purpose of this event is to bring together current Inuit graduate students, recent Inuit graduates, Inuit elders and Inuit education innovators to have focused conversations about enhancing the participation and success of Inuit students in post-graduate study and research and to discuss what Inuit research is needed, how it should be conducted and by whom.

Inuit Ignite Speakers will inspire and provoke conversations across the two days so that the voices of Inuit graduate students will contribute to the ongoing conversations with the Federal government about research by, with and for Inuit and how best support and enhance the research training experience for Inuit graduate students.  You will  meet other Inuit graduate and undergraduate students and establish a sustainable network of support for graduate students across Inuit Nunangat.

Participation, including travel, accommodation and meals will be fully funded for graduate student participants. In order to best represent a variety of backgrounds and areas, participants from each land claim region will selected while also taking account of field of study.

If you are interested in participating in the Inuit Graduate Student Winter Institute please register your interest.  Please complete as soon as possible and no later than Wednesday 23rd January so that we can organize flights, accommodation etc.

Participants will be contacted by ITK to arrange travel and accommodation for the 2-day national gathering of Inuit graduate students.

We look forward to receiving your application!
