PORT HOPE — Join scholar Jesse Thistle for a reading and discussion of his new book.

Taking place at the Cameco Capitol Arts Theatre on Sept. 12, Thistle’s memoir From the Ashes, My Story of Being Metis, Homeless and Finding My Way, will give people insight into his life and a deeper understanding into indigenous people.

“Jesse’s story exposes the raw, human impact of a dark chapter in Canadian history that included residential schools, the Sixties Scoop and displacement of Métis people,” said David Sheffield, community director of Green Wood Coalition.

In addition to the reading, Kerri Knightley, advisor with the Canadian Alliance to end Homelessness and Green Wood Coalition board member, will interview Thistle on stage discussing homelessness from his perspective.
