Want to know what basic training is like for Canadian soldiers? Watch this video! Indigenous Canadian Army recruits share their experience of basic military training through the Bold Eagle program. Bold Eagle is a Canadian Army Reserve Basic Military Qualification (BMQ) course for Indigenous people from western Canada and north-western Ontario. Through Bold Eagle, recruits can earn more than $4000. The six-week program combines military training essential to a soldier in the Canadian Army with several days focusing on Indigenous culture and tradition. Recruits become members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and after completion can choose to remain in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Regular Force member, Reserve Force member, or a Canadian Ranger, or they can return to their civilian lives.
