Manitoba Metis Federation hosts the 39th Annual General Assembly

WINNIPEG – This weekend the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is holding its 39th Annual General Assembly in the City of Winnipeg, commencing Friday, September 14th and continuing until September 16th at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

The theme of this year’s Assembly is “Empower-Your Family. Your Nation. Your Future.” with an emphasis on self-governance.“It is the celebration of our culture that brings us together and strengthens our identity, adding the vitality of Metis nationhood to our lives,” said MMF President David Chartrand. “The strength of our Nation lies in our ability to be a self-governing People.”

Over 2,000 delegates from across the province will come together to reflect on the year, exercise Metis governance and to celebrate Metis culture and heritage.

A Bingo night, hosted by the Northwest Metis Council will be held on Friday, September 14th. Admission is $50 with a final jackpot of $10,000.00 and all proceeds donated to the MMF Bereavement Fund.

The Youth Conference will be held on September 15th and will feature a live remote with HOT 103’s Ace Burpee. Following the Youth Conference is the AGA Cultural Night will feature a creative assortment of Manitoba’s talented Metis performers. Hosted by the Winnipeg Region Metis Association, the evening will showcase traditional fiddlers, dancers, and singers, as well as a Michif theatre production of Little Red Riding Hood.
