Manitoba seeks more First Nations policing

Manitoba’s justice minister says he will press Ottawa to increase support for First Nations policing.
Andrew Swan made the comment Tuesday in Regina, where federal, provincial and territorial justice ministers are meeting, saying he will also ask for support in drug treatment costs and legal aid.
Swan says demand for these programs is increasing while federal funding for them has remained frozen.
“We all have a part to play when it comes to keeping Manitoba families safe and policing on reserves, drug treatment courts and a strong legal aid system play an important part in that,” said Swan.
