In Honour of our Anishinabek Warriors. In Commemoration of the War of 1812.

There will be a War of 1812 Memorial & Warrior Peace Pole erected at the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation in remembrance and in honour of the Anishinabek Warriors who fought in the war of 1812.

Draft Agenda:

7-9 am sunrise and pipe ceremony

10:30- Arrival of Manitoulin Island schools and honoured guests

10:40- Opening remarks- Honour song by tribal drum Nimkii

10:45- Story of Niibaakum and his involvement in the war

11:15- History of the peace pole- Dominic Beaudry

11:30- Alan Corbiere to speak about a painting on the monument

11:40- Unveiling of the peace pole

11:44- Traveling song by tribal drum – Nimkii

12:00- Attendees and students depart
