Media Advisory – Canadian Chamber Board Meets in Vancouver
OTTAWA, Feb. 20 – Keynote addresses by the Chair and President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and a presentation from former prime minister Paul Martin, highlight events as business leaders from across the country gather in Vancouver for three days of meetings in Vancouver, Feb. 24-26.
The Canadian Chamber board of directors meets quarterly across the country to discuss policy issues affecting the business community and the Canadian economy.
The winter meetings (Feb. 24-26) will be book-ended by two major speeches from Sean Finn, Chair of the Canadian Chamber, on Feb. 23, and Nancy Hughes Anthony, President and CEO, on Feb. 27. The directors will also hear a presentation from the Right Honourable Paul Martin on Developing Capacity in Canada’s Aboriginal Community on the morning of Feb. 26. (The Canadian Chamber is currently engaged in a research paper on Canada’s skilled labour shortage, which will include recommendations on improving the skills and representation of aboriginals in the Canadian workforce.)
Mr. Finn, CN Senior Vice President, Public Affairs, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, will speak to the Vancouver Board of Trade luncheon on the subject of corporate social responsibility on Feb. 23.
Ms. Hughes Anthony will speak on measures the business community will be looking for in the upcoming federal budget to the Richmond Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 27.
