Media Advisory – Invitation to media – KWE! meet with indigenous peoples event

QUÉBEC, Aug. 31, 2017  – The KWE! Meet with Indigenous Peoples team is pleased to invite the media to take part in the event, which will be held from September 1 to 3 at the Place de l’Assemblée-Nationale. Members of the media are welcome throughout the weekend, but more specifically at the following times:

Friday, September 1

What: Opening ceremonies

Description: Speeches by dignitaries (Dr. Stanley Vollant, Grand Chief Konrad Sioui, Chief Ghislain Picard, Mayor Régis Labeaume, MNA Véronyque Tremblay and Minister Jean-Yves Duclos), traditional singing and dancing, and food tasting (Indigenous gastronomy)

Time:  5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Place: Place de l’Assemblée-Nationale

Sunday, September 3

What: Unveiling of a collective artwork

Description: Speeches by Indigenous and non-Indigenous young people who took part in creating a collective artwork throughout the weekend, speeches by artists Sarah Cleary and Guitté Hartog, symbolic presentation of the artwork to the Grand Chief of the Huron-Wendat Nation, Konrad Sioui, and food tasting of traditional Indigenous dishes

Time: 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Place: Place de l’Assemblée-Nationale
