Media Advisory: Provincial Government to Host Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Local Government

The Honourable Dianne Whalen, Minister of Municipal Affairs, will host the annual meeting of Provincial and Territorial Ministers Responsible for Local Government at the Delta St. John’s, July 7-9.Eleven cabinet ministers from across the country will participate – Newfoundland and Labrador, Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, and Yukon.

The ministers’ meetings will centre on issues of provincial and territorial importance, including municipal infrastructure, strengthening the rural municipal sector, climate change and municipal Aboriginal engagement.

National and provincial media wishing to attend or cover the proceedings are asked to pre-register by calling 709-729-0857. Appropriate credentials will be distributed to registered media on site and arrangements will be made for other media to participate via conference call for the final media event.
