Media Advisory (Red Earth First Nation)
The Red Earth First Nation and the Prince Albert Grand Council, with the assistance of the province will evacuate about 690 residents to Prince Albert and Saskatoon today.
Residents with chronic illness or special needs will be housed in hotels in Prince Albert and Saskatoon. Those destined for Prince Albert are expected to arrive mid afternoon.
Most of the other residents of Red Earth will be evacuated to the Cosmo Civic Centre in Saskatoon, arriving at about supper time.Today, Friday, April 20, 2007, Dwayne Rowlett, Saskatchewan Watershed Authority, Duane McKay, Corrections and Public Safety, and Richard Kent, Prince Albert Grand Counsel, will be available at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 201 1st Avenue E, Nipawin, to brief reporters regarding water levels, affected communities and the situation at Red Earth.
These daily briefings in Nipawin are also available to reporters via conference call. To participate reporters should call 306-781-5995 then enter the access code 1218 followed by the pound (#) key.
Beginning tomorrow, Saturday, April 21, 2007, there will be daily briefings at 9:45 a.m. and 4 p.m.
