Sunrise Ceremony on Indigenous Peoples Day at Toronto City Hall
The City of Toronto will celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day with a Sunrise Ceremony on June 21 on Nathan Phillips Square. Mayor John Tory will read the Proclamation for Indigenous Peoples Day and the event will be attended by Indigenous leaders and community members as well as City officials and staff.
Indigenous Peoples Day takes place annually on June 21 across Canada. On this day, the public is encouraged to recognize the unique and important history, culture and contributions of First Nations, Métis and Inuit in Canada.
Date: Wednesday, June 21
Time: 5:30 a.m.
Location: Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W., near the Indigenous flags on the east side of the Square
Note: Video and/or audio recording of the Sunrise Ceremony is not permitted out of respect for the sacred and traditional protocols for ceremonies and Indigenous Peoples. The proclamation presentation immediately following the Sunrise Ceremony may be filmed/recorded.
