Metis Book Launch Joins MMF 39th AGA

WINNIPEG – In conjunction with this weekend’s 39th Annual General Assembly for the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF), John Weinstein is launching his latest book on September 15th, at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

In Weinstein’s book, he traces Metis aspirations for political autonomy as part of the Canadian Federation from the time of Louis Riel through to the 2005 Kelowna Accord. He brings you into the backroom negotiations, political maneuvering and constitutional wrangling of the last three decades. Weinstein delivers a captivating history as a unique background to the Metis struggle for recognition and justice.The official launch for Quiet Revolution West: The Rebirth of Metis Nationalism will be held at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 15th, at the at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. Weinstein will be performing a reading at the main stage followed by book signings and interviews. Books will also be made available for the remainder of the AGA at the Home Office Booth.

“Weinstein has given us a beautiful history of the Metis nation,” writes the Right Honourable Paul Martin in his Foreword to the book. “Quiet Revolution West is a vivid tale of constant struggle and sacrifice. It is a gripping account of political intrigue and brinksmanship that will raise eyebrows in many quarters.”

John Weinstein began writing about the Metis political movement in the 1970s. Acting as an advisor to successive Metis leaders allowed Weinstein insight and experience for documenting many of the events depicted in Quiet Revolution West.
