Metis Nation candidates question withholding voter list – StarPhoenix

Two presidential candidates in the Metis Nation—Saskatchewan election are questioning why they are not allowed to see the list of people who cast ballots in the May 27 vote.

Charlene Lavallee and Wayne Whitford say that’s the only way they can be certain there’s been no repeat of the fraud that caused the 2004 election to be disqualified.

The voter list in that election included names of dead people, Whitford said.

“I’m not suggesting anything about crookedness or whatever. I’m just saying give me the list of names so I can prove to myself and everybody else that it was legitimate.”
