Minister Promotes NWT Mineral Potential in Toronto

by NationTalk on March 14, 2012119 Views

Yellowknife (March 14, 2012) – Promoting the NWT’s vast mineral base and highlighting opportunities for prospecting and investment in the NWT mining sector was the focus for Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment David Ramsay last week at the 2012 Prospectors and Developers Convention (PDAC) in Toronto.

Minister Ramsay was accompanied by Nahendeh MLA Kevin Menicoche and Hay River North MLA Robert Bouchard. He met with potential investors and companies currently exploring or seeking approvals to develop new mines in the NWT.“The NWT is rich in mineral resources,” said Minister Ramsay. “We are open for business and interested in attracting investors. We support the sustainable development of our mineral resources, which could result in new mines and ultimately benefit NWT residents.”

The convention is now in its 80th year and attracts investors, analysts, mining executives, geologists, prospectors and international government delegations from all over the globe. Over 30,000 people attended this year, and the Trade Show and Investors Exchange featured over 1000 exhibitors.

The Government of the Northwest Territories’ participation in PDAC 2012 is an example of the actions being taken to strengthen and diversify our economy, a key priority of the 17th Legislative Assembly.
